Silentnight is the most well-known mattress retailer in the UK. They also have the widest range of mattresses available. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for something cheap and cheerful for the spare bedroom, or something more luxurious. Silentnight have got you covered.

As well as being well-known, Silentnight are also a very reputable brand. There are thousands upon thousands of reviews of their products and service to read online. The majority of them are highly rated.

Silentnight offer four main types of mattresses:

  • ‘Mirapocket’ mattress
  •  ‘Miracoil’ mattress
  • Budget memory foam mattress
  • Luxury memory foam mattress

Which is the best Silentnight Mattress?

The answer to this will vary depending on how firm you need your mattress to be. Silentnight offer a range of mattresses from their affordable Studio collection up to their premium Geltex models.

Do Silentnight make memory foam mattresses?

Yes, Silentnight make all three main types of mattress – memory foam, pocket sprung and even coil sprung.

‘Mirapocket’ is the term that Silentnight use for their own pocket spring mattress. The majority of people in the UK sleep on pocket spring mattresses, so they are a very popular product. As well as feeling familiar, a pocket sprung mattress offers a good level of support. There are plenty of options available. Whether you want a plain and simple pocket sprung mattress or one with an integrated layer of memory foam or latex.

‘Miracoil’ is the term that Silentnight use to describe their coil spring mattresses. Coil sprung mattresses are not very popular these days as they can become very uncomfortable after a lot of use. They have been replaced by pocket sprung mattresses. Nevertheless if you’re looking for a really cheap mattress for the spare room or you’re on a budget then these might be worth a little look.

The Silentnight budget memory foam mattress is a great cheaper option. But it’s also useful if you require all-over support that is consistent to the contours of your body. These mattresses are sometimes known as the ‘mattress now’ range.

Silentnight also offer a more luxurious memory foam mattress which uses more than one different type of foam. This is much the same way as the Nectar Sleep and Emma offerings. The mattresses are in the ‘Silentnight Studio’ range and are a ‘bed in a box’ solution. This means that the mattress will arrive in a compressed state to your door.

From all the above categories we have picked out the best mattresses based on specifications, customer reviews and value for money.

Silentnight 3 Zone Memory Foam MattressSilentnight 3 Zone memory foam mattress

If you’re after a Silentnight mattress but you’re on a budget, then this could be the mattress for you. It arrives at your door rolled up, so you have to unroll it and let it settle at home. It’s a synthetic foam mattress that has a layer of memory foam on top. It scores more than 4 out of 5 in the majority of reviews and the great thing is that it only costs £175.

It’s quite thin by mattress standards, at just 180mm deep. Silentnight do offer a deeper version which is 200mm deep and therefore slightly firmer. The majority of bestselling luxury mattresses range from 250mm to 300mm in depth so there is quite a difference in thickness.

Being memory foam this mattress is quite different from a traditional pocket sprung mattress. The foam inside gives you more of a hugging and sinking feeling than other types of mattress. Some people also think that memory foam is a bit too warm. However it does offer much more consistent support than spring mattresses. It’s great for allergy sufferers too because it’s not made from natural materials and there aren’t any voids for dust to accumulate.

This particular mattress won an award back in 2012 and has been a bestseller ever since. It does come with quite a short warranty compared to other mattresses at just 3 years. However you can’t go far wrong to buy a memory foam mattress from a brand you’ve heard of for under £200.

Silentnight Classic 1200 Pocket DeluxeSilentnight Classic 1200 pocket deluxe

Also known as the Sofia 1200 is a great mid-priced mattress from a reputable brand that you can trust. Another Silentnight mattress that’s won an award, it’s averaged 9 out of 10 across many thousands of reviews online.

It’s called the Classic 1200 because there are 1,200 springs on the king size model of it. This is a perfectly adequate number of springs to give the majority of people a good level of support throughout the night. If you’re heavier than around a6 stone it is recommended that you look for a mattress with a spring count of more than 2,000.

The Classic/Sofia 1200 is deeper than the budget memory foam mattress, at 280mm deep. It’s also double sided which means that it can be flipped over every once in a while in over to increase longevity. It also comes with a 5 year warranty, which is average for a pocket spring mattress but not exceptional.

Silentnight Studio MattressSilentnight Studio mattress

The Studio by Silentnight is their version of the ‘bed in a box’ mattress which has been increasingly popular in the UK over recent years. Other such Bed in a Box mattresses include Nectar Sleep, Simba and OTTY.

Like most other ‘Bed in Box’ mattresses, the Silentnight Studio is made of foam, and is compressed so that it can be delivered to your door easily. You can’t try these mattresses in the shops, so instead you have to order the one that you think will suit you, and then if you’re not happy with your purchase you can use the 60-day free trial and swap it for a harder or softer mattress.

Silentnight London Stratus 2000 Mirapocket MattressSilentnight London Stratus 2000

If you’re looking for a mattress that offers the benefits of both pocket springs and memory foam, then a hybrid mattress could be just what you need. The London Stratus is Siletnight’s answer to a hybrid mattress. The great thing about it is the fact that it has a high spring count, meaning that the springs alone will offer a god level of support. The layer of memory foam on top of the springs will add a bit of cushioning to this support, making it a very comfortable combination.

The only real disadvantage of hybrid mattress like this one is the fact that because there is a layer of memory foam stitched into the top, it cannot be flipped like many other pocket sprung or memory foam mattresses. Flipping a mattress every now and then is thought to increase its lifespan considerably. As a result, it can lead to sags and dips over time. However you can still rotate the mattress every so often, which will help to increase it’s useful life.

It comes with a 5 year warranty, and scores a staggering 9 out of 10 on most leading review websites, so it’s a hybrid mattress well worth considering.

Silentnight Geltex Ultra 3000 Mirapocket MattressSilentnight Geltex Ultra 3000 Mirapocket mattress

The Geltex Ultra 3000 mattress from Silentnight sounds as though it is very expensive – because it is. But what more do you get for your money when compared to a cheaper Silentnight mattress?

For starters, the Geltex Ultra 3000 is an impressive 370mm deep. This is owed to the fact that the mattress contains two layers of springs as well as a layer of ‘Geltex’, which is Silentnight’s patented foam, consisting of extremely elastic gel and air-permeable foam.

As you would expect at this price point, the mattress uses pocket springs instead of the much older coil spring technology. As the name suggests, there are 3,000 springs inside the mattress, spread over two layers. One layer has 2,000 springs and the other has 1,000.

Having so many springs will make this a firm mattress compared to other mattresses with a lower spring count. Firmer mattresses are more suited to heavier people than lighter people. It’s also worth considering whether you sleep on your side or your back. Side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress than back sleepers, to avoid putting too much pressure on the hips and shoulders. The Geltex Ultra 3000 has all the usual guarantees and warranties that you’d expect from a Silentnight product. And this mattress is particularly highly-rated, with an average review rating of 95%.

  1. I’ve only ever owned Silent Night mattresses and I’d never consider any other. It’s like Heinz tomato ketchup and Hellmann’s mayo – there are no substitutes for the real thing
