Simba Hybrid vs Simba Hybrid Pro

Simba’s range of hybrid mattresses are a popular choice for many people in the UK, who want the benefits of both foam AND inner / pocket spring mattresses.

In the UK, you can choose from the following hybrid mattresses from Simba:

• Simba Hybrid (regular),
• Simba Hybrid Pro, and
• Simba Hybrid Luxe

What is a hybrid mattress?

If you already know what a hybrid mattress is, then skip to the next section.

These mattresses are made with a combination of foam layers and coil springs to offer a unique sleeping experience that – according to the Simba marketing – combines the best of both worlds. These are called hybrids or hybrid mattresses, and Simba were the first in the UK to sell one.

Below is my full rundown of the differences between the Simba Hybrid and Hybrid Pro.

Why are hybrid mattresses so popular?

One of the key benefits of hybrid mattresses is their ability to provide what’s called “targeted support”.

If you don’t know what that means, then just imagine a cutaway of a mattress. It’ll look a bit like this:

There’s the coil springs in the mattress (from the pocket spring part), these offer support to the body’s natural contours, distributing the weight evenly across the mattress. This can help to alleviate pressure points and reduce discomfort, particularly for those who suffer from back pain or other joint issues.

Do hybrid mattresses sag?

Generally speaking, hybrid mattresses are known for their durability. The combination of foam and springs helps to distribute weight evenly across the mattress, reducing wear and tear over time. This means that hybrid mattresses are less likely to sag or lose their shape, and can often last longer than traditional memory foam mattresses, which are known to frequently sag or dip in the middle. So yes, overall, you’re less likely to get sagging with a hybrid than a memory foam, or a straight up pocket sprung for that matter.

Moving on, another benefit of hybrid mattresses is the mixture of firmness. Their combination of foam and springs creates a range of firmness levels and feels, making it easier to find a mattress that suits your individual sleeping preferences. This can be particularly important for couples who have different preferences for mattress firmness and/or mattress feel.

Are hybrid mattresses comfortable?

Most reports I’ve seen, suggest that people find them more comfortable than regular memory foams.

It’s worth nothing that hybrid mattresses also offer excellent motion isolation, which can be beneficial for couples ie. people who share their bed. The memory foam layers in the mattress absorb movement and prevent it from transferring across the mattress, reducing the likelihood of disturbance during the night.

Price in the UK: Simba Hybrids

Of course, the prices of Simba Hybrid and Simba Hybrid Pro mattresses in the UK can vary depending on the size/model you choose. Generally, the Simba Hybrid mattress is more affordable than the Simba Hybrid Pro, although both mattresses are considered to be on the higher end of the price range for mattresses.

That’s not surprising though, because hybrids are often expensive. That’s the main drawback. If you’re on a tighter budget then consider my budget range of mattress reviews.

• Simba Hybrid mattress is available in six different sizes, ranging from single to emperor. Prices for the single size start at around £569, while the emperor size is priced at around £1,119. Prices for the other sizes fall in between these two extremes.
• Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is available in five different sizes, ranging from single to super king. They don’t do emperor yet, sadly. Prices for the single size start at around £1,069, while the super king size is priced at around £1,569. As mentioned earlier, the Simba Hybrid Pro is significantly more expensive than the Simba Hybrid, which may be a problem. 1. Simba Hybrid Mattress

Let’s start with the more basic, cheaper model.

The Simba Hybrid has been around for a long time now – but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 🙂

This is a  standard memory foam and spring hybrid, designed to offer the perfedct balance of comfort and support. The mattress is made up of five layers, including a base layer of supportive foam, a layer of pocket springs, and a layer of breathable memory foam for comfort.

Benefits:

One of the key benefits of the Simba Hybrid mattress is its supportive design. The pocket springs help to distribute weight evenly, providing support for your back, neck, and joints. The mattress also has a cooling layer, which helps to regulate your body temperature throughout the night, so you don’t overheat.

Another benefit of the Simba Hybrid mattress is its durability. The mattress is made from high-quality materials, and the combination of foam and springs means that it can withstand regular use without losing its shape.

Drawbacks:

One drawback of the Simba Hybrid mattress is that it may be too firm for some people. If you prefer a softer mattress, this may not be the best option for you. Additionally, some users have reported that the mattress can be quite heavy and difficult to move.

2. Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress

The Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is an upgrade on the original Simba Hybrid, with added layers for extra comfort and support. The mattress is made up of seven layers, including a base layer of supportive foam, a layer of pocket springs, and a layer of conical springs for added support.

Benefits:

One of the key claims of the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is its advanced support system. The mattress has three layers of springs, including conical springs that provide targeted support for your back and shoulders. The mattress also has a wool layer, which helps to regulate your body temperature and keep you comfortable throughout the night.

Another benefit of the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is its superior comfort. The mattress has a top layer of responsive foam, which contours to your body and provides excellent pressure relief. This can be particularly beneficial if you suffer from back pain or other joint problems.

Drawbacks:

One drawback of the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is its fairly high price, usually even with discounts it’ll cost over a grand for a double. Simba aren’t a cheap brand and their products are often quite dear compared to others.

While the Hybrid Pro is significantly more expensive than the original Simba Hybrid, this price has risen along with everything else in the UK lately. In fact, when I first started reviewing mattresses this website, the Simba Hybrid cost about £599….! Sadly, those days are long gone now, it seems.

The high price may be a huge barrier for some of you – let me know in the comments below.

Additionally, as above, the mattress may be too firm for some people who dislike firm mattresses, particularly if you prefer a softer sleeping surface.

As youi can see, both the Simba Hybrid and Simba Hybrid Pro mattresses have their benefits and drawbacks…! So the Simba Hybrid is a great option for those who want a supportive, durable mattress at an affordable price point. However, the Simba Hybrid Pro offers superior comfort and support, particularly for those with back pain or other hip problems.

So… which Simba hybrid mattress is best?

While both mattresses may be considered expensive by some, they have both designed to be long-lasting and durable, which can make them a good investment in the long run.

They are made in the UK as well, which naturally adds to the cost. What’s more, don’t forget that both mattresses often come with promotional discounts, making them more affordable for those who are on a budget.

Ultimately, the price of the mattress you choose will depend on your individual needs and preferences.

If you prioritise affordability, the Simba Hybrid may be a better option for you.

However, if you are willing to invest in a more advanced support system and extra comfort, the Simba Hybrid Pro is like worth the higher price tag.
