High-Density Poly Foam

To offer support, there is a 3.5-inch layer of high-density poly foam underneath the memory foam and poly foam layers. This is to provide foundational support to the mattress and give it some structure. As the poly foam here is much denser than the layer above, there is no body contouring at all.

Underneath this high-density poly foam layer lies another layer of high-density poly foam. This forms the base of the mattress and helps to support the structure as well as support the first layer of high-density poly foam above. Of course, using high density poly foam in a mattress is nothing new. Many of the ‘bed in a box’ mattresses manufacturers use this method to give the mattress some structure and stability. Unfortunately, there is no industry-wide scale to determine whether a mattress is soft or firm. As it’s completely subjective it’s quite difficult to put a rating on it. Compared to similar ‘bed in a box’ mattresses, the Zinus memory foam mattress does feel softer so it may be worth considering this if you are a heavier person, or you require a bit more support.
